Greenhaus Eco

Ethical store Greenhaus Eco are working together to create a sustainable future, a vision that we at Plant Designs are proud to be a part of. Their new showroom in Shoreditch is host to a string of sustainable brands, from bamboo toothbrushes and eco cleaning tools, to cocomat bikes.

The Brief

In keeping with both their name and mission, Greenhaus asked Plant Designs to fill their space with plants, giving it a greenhouse feel with a variety of species and abundance of shapes and textures. In addition to dense planting, the client desired a living wall of plants, with an overall aim of promoting health, wellbeing and the importance of giving back to our precious planet.

A focal point of the design brief was a set of large, multi-coloured wings crafted from preserved moss, that visitors to the store could interact with. This was to be suspended from a large wall, allowing clients to be photographed in between the wings, tagging the store and brands on their social media posts to increase Greenhaus’s following, visitors, and sales.

The Solution

With the brief in hand, Sales Developer Ellie worked with the client to come up with a design to fulfil their vision. Knowing that the wings imagined would be no easy feat, we called upon one of our many talented artists, who Ellie knew would do a fantastic job, to help. With a background in set design and prop making, artist Tom Sleeman was the perfect man for the job.

The client had mentioned that they wanted a living wall, but creatively the team didn’t want to detract from the wings. Deciding to reinterpret the term ‘living wall’ , Ellie decided to go for something a little more unusual, staggering used apple crates against the walls for potted plants to be nestled into. All of this mixed planting is accompanied by floor standing plants of all shapes, sizes and species, creating an immersive, jungle-like atmosphere.

The plants were the first aspect of our store fit-out, and it’s a landmark of when our store really came to life! Being a conceptual store focused on sustainability we needed the presence of nature to be evident throughout and Plant Designs really hooked us up.
